Hi! I’m creating a blog to write and document my thoughts on indie perfumes I’ve purchased. I am hoping this will motivate me to try all the samples I’ve acquired from Reddit Swaps with People on The Internet and it will be nice to have all my thoughts in one place. So far I’ve purchased from Andromeda’s Curse, Alkemia, BPAL, Cocoapink, Sorce, Poesie, Luvmilk, and gotten many samples from other places. I am also going to try to do some No Buy months until I get to trying some of these samples.
I tend to gravitate towards atmospheric scents right now and also somehow getting into gourmand smells (and these two are like total opposites in my mind…) I have only been into indie perfumes for like 9 months so far, so I don’t think I have any death notes.
I am really passionate about indie perfumes because they tend to be more unique and fun compared to what you can find in department stores. Most of my perfumes are oil perfumes because I prefer being also to control where I apply the perfumes and they wear a bit closer. I have some alcohol spray ones too and they really linger when they inevitably land on the collars of my shirts… which is nice but means I will be smelling like vanilla milkshake every time I put my sweatshirt on.
I can’t help but notice currently that people on the indie perfume swap subreddit are starting to get desperate for perfumes from indie places that have been on hiatus for over a year now, like Death and Floral, and Osmofolia. I have a few samples from these two and I am hoping they come back at some point. I’m bummed having samples for things I cant get a full size product of or just more of it in general. I know that sometimes these things are out of their control and life happens but it does make me wonder if, even if someone is talented and creates really amazing things, if there’s still obstacles because they are an independent place and that those obstacles are not possible to be overcome. Hopefully that makes sense.
